Strength In Story

Survivors’ Truths’ mission is to challenge assumptions, inspire hope, and create change through the stories we tell and how we tell them. Strength in Story is a collaborative, participatory project bringing together a wide variety of stories from ordinary people about how they overcame adversity and recovered from loss.

Anyone can participate! Simply share your story about a challenge that you have faced and how you overcame it.

There are many ways you can share your story. We want you to share it in a way that you are passionate about and in a way you feel will be the best way to inspire others. Below are some ways you can share:

  • Write a poem

  • Videotape yourself telling your story

  • Write a song

  • Make a music video

  • Draw and share something that shows or expresses a time in your life where you overcame the odds, faced adversity, or recovered from loss.

  • Take a photo and explain how it represents a difficult time in your life.

Here are some questions to get you started:

  • How did you do it?

  • What helped along the way?

  • Where did you find support?

  • What did you learn?

  • Looking back, what are you most proud of?

  • What might surprise people about you or your experience?

We will be sharing videos in a YouTube playlist and on our website. Poems, songs, drawings, and photographs will be posted on our website as well as Survivors’ Truths’ Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages.
