Survivors' Truths at NUCHR

Our founder Dove and Board Member Chipo Nyambuya have been invited  to speak on a panel entitled, “Defining Rights in Peacekeeping,” at the Northwestern University Conference on Human Rights, which is being held January 17 - 20, 2013.

NUCHR is the largest undergraduate student-organized and student-attended conference on human rights in the United States. This year’s conference is entitled Human Rights and International Peacekeeping: From Military Intervention to Local Anti-Violence Efforts. Throughout the three-day conference, our forty undergraduate delegates from universities across the U.S. will examine past and present methods of peacekeeping, including military vs. local peacekeeping efforts. The conference will analyze the expanded mandate of UN Peacekeepers in peacebuilding activities such as judicial restructuring, police training, and election monitoring. We will also examine mechanisms "beyond the Blue Helmets," of civil society initiatives to enforce and maintain the peace.
