Liberia and The Ebola Epidemic

Dr. Mardia Stone

Dr. Mardia Stone is currently on a mission of mercy.  As most were fleeing Liberia, Dr. Stone’s roots called to her.

On August 15, 2014 she flew into the belly of the beast, so to speak, to ostensibly deliver medical supplies she’d helped collect in her long standing role as a Senior Advisor to the Chester M. Pierce Division of Global Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.

In essence, however, she is there to do her part to help the country of her birth in a time of its most recent crisis…the unprecedented Ebola epidemic.

The following series of blogs will catalogue Dr. Stone’s journey and experience, in her own words.

What is her objective? To set the record straight, provide an on the ground perspective from what you’re hearing in the media and to illuminate ways you, the reader, can help her work and ultimately the Liberian people.
